About
Doris Kaminski
Life was very full and rich in Queens in the 1940's and 50's when Doris Kaminski was raised there by her maternal Grandmother. Doris was born into a Russian-speaking family in New York City and her European/American beginnings come through in her sensitive and intimate paintings today. As an only child, she spent much of her time drawing and exploring, influenced deeply by her Grandmother's private world. Her latest series of paintings have developed slowly over the past year or more. The work began to emerge after spending several weeks in France gathering ideas in Paris and also in the rural parts of the Touraine. Doris believes insight comes from sketching and quiet observation and she has filled many books with fragments of moments which are developed more fully in the studio. She is a Fellow of the RAS and has paintings in many collections including ABN AMRO. |
